Tutsi Wooven Shield (SHI-033)

Tutsis are the second largest population division among the three largest groups in Rwanda and Burundi; the other two being the Hutu and the Twa.  The following shield was carried by many tribes such as Bakiga, the Fuliro where it had a heraldic function. The shield consists of wood and tribal colouring and shows greater signs of age and usage.
