The Turkana tribe is a nomadic pastoralist people that inhabit the Turkana district in Kenya’s Rift Valley Province. This is an Old Carved wooden Container that was used by the Turkana elders of Kenya for carrying snuff. Such objects were made for personal use as a container to snuff tobacco or medicines to heal headaches from high blood pressure or head colds and many other diseases. A Snuffbox can be made out of a combination of various materials: wood, ivory, leather, and beads. This tube is made out of ivory, It is a unique part of the male culture of the Turkana and shows use and age.
