Tabwa Mask (CMI-053)

Tabwa lives mainly on the southwestern shores of Lake Tanganyika, in the extreme southeastern Congo (Kinshasa). Some also live in the northeastern part of Zambia and along the Luapula River.

The following mask is crafted from turtle shell and bares a shiny brown patina, we could not ascertain what the Tabwa used the turtle masks for but this passport mask is undoubtedly old and shows visible signs of age and good usage.
