The Songye is found in the Democratic Republic Of Congo on the left of the River Lualaba. The Songye are popular for crafting numerous tribal artwork like power objects and objects associated with divination, fertility, and success. These stools were closely personal to the owner. The size of the stool was often in relation to the importance of the owner. This stool is in good condition, though worn with age, and has evidence overall of old worm wear to the surfaces, it is crafted in hardwood with a shiny dark patina, smooth texture and a round stable base supporting it.
