Nyanga masks were mostly used at circumcision ceremonies and at initiation ceremonies and so is believed to be this mask. The Nyanga also called (Banianga, Banyanga, Kinyanga, Nianga or Nyangas) are a Bantu ethnic group living in the Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We are yet to find the exact use of this mask in the Nyanga society but this is an old light wooden mask with a white patina and shows perfect age wear and tear.
