The Ngbaka are mostly found near the Gemena plateau are closely related to babembe tribe on the northern corridor, of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Ngbaka figures are often found in pairs and are believed to represent their two primordial ancestors, are placed on altars in houses where they fulfill a protective role. Some of the Ngbaka sculptures are believed to bring good fortune. This statue nicely crafted from wood with a dark patina and considerably of old age.
