This is a fine wood sculpture made by a skilled Dinka craftsman. The Dinka tribe are based in South Sudan in the Bahr el ghazel region, they are mainly pastoralists. The Dinka were not famous for making such sculptures. This sculpture was of personal importance to its owner. It is carved in hardwood, has a beautiful brown patina and shows visible traces of usage and old age. We are yet to ascertain the use of this sculpture.
