Bembe Maskette (CMI-065)

The Bembe people migrated from Congo in the 18th century and resettled in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, near its border with Tanzania and Burundi. We were not able to ascertain the use of passport masks among the Bembe but this is no doubt an old bush collected piece and shows signs of age and good usage.
